SUN TOPS

Use of a support pole posteriorly to stretcher straps is meant to create a rest position for folding the sunshade, which will reduce bridge space occupancy.

Sunshade canvas needs to be washed with water and ordinary detergents or Marseille soap. Do not use aggressive or undiluted products. Dry cleaning will irretrievably spoil both the textile fiber and the waterproofing vinyl.

A sunshade can be left installed on the boat for extended periods. Prior to folding it back and placing it into its sleeve, make sure that canvas parts are dry. Stainless steel frames will regain shininess by wiping them with lime paste. Joints and screws do not need to be lubricated and are protected by nylon seals.

All of our suntop come with attachments and accessories for correct mounting. Various optional attachment kits are available from our website.

Yes. Just state the exact sizes in your order and Tessilmare will manufacture your custom suntop with frames of up to 30 mm.

The sunshade canvas must be stretched forcefully to a position parallel to the boat bridge. If canvas flutters at high speeds, then we suggest tilting it a few centimetres sternward by pulling its stretcher straps.

This depends on the price you are willing to spend, on your boat size and available space – when space occupancy has to be minimised – as well as on your intended use (occasional and quick for a small fishing boat or virtually fixed for a flying bridge).

MARINE FABRICS

Lighter items have an average 2 to 4 year life depending on use. Life of heavier items ranges from 3 to 7 years.

Yes, all Tessilmare fabrics can be welded by various types of technologies.

Our production site has high-frequency welders that fully seal and waterproof seams.

All single-coated fabrics can be stitched by an ordinary machine with a single wheel carrier, with stitching to be made on the unplasticised part of fabric for better slip. For double-coated fabrics a machine with a double wheel carrier is recommended.

Tessilmare has manufactured technical fabrics for exteriors since 1947, our production departments are flexible and adapt easily to customers’ requests. Standard heights are 170 useful centimetres, whereas pack sizes range from 10 to 50 line metres.

Nautical fabrics must be extremely light, not cumbersome and highly resilient. They must be strain resistant, i.e. neither stretch nor shrink too much. They must be treated for UV resistance, low/high temperature resistance, mouldproofing and solvent inertia.
